an idle thought (or lack thereof)

Randomly came across this:

"An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with fools"

It certainly explains quite a bit about Hemingway, particularly his relationship with Gertrude Stein. It also seems like a sound enough practice in the right circumstances, though being sober amongst drunken fools also has its merits.

Why yes, spending too much time with family does do strange things to my head. ;p
